MONTEGO BAY, St. James (August 14, 2017): The St. James Municipal Corporation, on Monday, Aungust 14, 2017, hosted an orientation exercise for 120 Youth Summer Employment Programme (YSEP) participants at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre.

The orientation session, moderated by Community Programmes Coordinator at the Municipal Corporation, Nagra Plunkett Nugent was organized in an effort to sensitize, train and familiarize participants with the programme’s guidelines.

$18.5 million Drain-Cleaning Programme for St. James

Recently upgraded drainage system along Union Street, Montego Bay, St. James

MONTEGO BAY, St. James (July 26, 2017): The St. James Municipal Corporation will be expending approximately $18.5 million for its drain-cleaning exercise as preparation for the 2017 hurricane season.

The drain-cleaning exercise will cover the local authority’s 17 parochial divisions and will roll out on during the first week of August 2017.

Youth Summer Employment Programme 2017

The KSAMC recently held an Orientation Session for the 2017 Youth Summer Employment Programme.

The primary target group for this programme are youth between the ages of 15 and 29 whose goal is to collect data on street lights within all 40 divisions across the municipality, identify streets with missing name signs and record the information.

Additionally, they are tasked with identifying vulnerable persons within communities that are in need of emergency assistance and general social assistance using relevant forms provided.

150 Youths to be employed in summer jobs in St. Elizabeth

More than 2,300 young people are to be employed under the National Youth Summer Employment Programme, which will be officially launched today (August 10) at the Jamaica College Auditorium, Old Hope Road, St. Andrew.
The young people, from across the island, will be engaged in the auditing of street lights and identifying vulnerable persons within communities who may require assistance during periods of natural disasters and other forms of emergency.
