Clean-up day in Mandeville set for April 9

The Ministry of Health is advising the public that the next clean-up day for ‘Operation Mosquito Search and Destroy’, will be April 9 in Mandeville, Manchester.

It was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 2. The clean-up days are being undertaken to rid major cities and towns of breeding sites for the Aedes aegyptimosquito, the vector for Zika, dengue and chikungunya viruses.

With Easter less than a week away, the residents of the Spanish Town Infirmary got an early treat from students of the St. Catherine Primary School, Tuesday, March 22, 2016. St. Catherine Primary is located at 34 White Church Street, Spanish Town.
The group of students from grade 6 not only went with the intent of offering bun and cheese to the residents but they eagerly expressed themselves in song as they moved from ward to ward and sang.

St. Catherine Schools Participate In Earthquake Drill

As part of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management’s (ODPEM) ‘Drop, Cover, Hold’ (DCH) campaign, some 300 schools in Kingston and St Andrew, St Thomas and St Catherine, simultaneously staged earthquake drills on March 22 and 23, respectively.

The simulation exercise is a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.
