Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Tabletop Simulation Exercise

On Thursday July 7, 2016, the Manchester Parish Council’s Parish Disaster, Planning and Management Committee, which included government agencies, participated in an in-house Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Tabletop simulation exercise conducted by Mrs. Camille Beckford-Palmer, Regional Coordinator in the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).

The training was conducted to highlight the preparedness of the Council and other key response agencies in dealing with natural disasters and other emergency.

Donation to Alligator Pond Primary & Infant School

The Manchester Parish Council handed over four gallons of paint to the Alligator Primary and Infant School during their Devotional Exercise conducted at the school on Monday, July 4, 2016.
This was a donation to the school for their assistance in the outstation exercise conducted at the school on Thursday, April 21, 2016

Mrs. Millicent Bernard-James expressed gratitude to the Council for the kind gesture that will go towards the school’s beautification project.

KSAC continues Citizen- Engagement thrust with Town Hall Meetings

The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC), in keeping with its strategic objective of serving citizens and other stakeholders held two town hall meetings; on June 16 and July 7 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church Hall and Pembroke Hall High School respectively.

The town hall meetings form part of a series of public consultations aimed at facilitating closer partnerships among residents, community and business interests and the KSAC.

Official Opening – Alexandria Library

Residents in the Alexandria community have been without a library for over six (6) years, due to fire destroying the Library that originally served the community. The construction of the new library is the brainchild of sitting Councillor for the Alexandria Division, Mr. Gilbert McLeod. Currently there are a number of public schools in close proximity to Alexandria that are forced to do without a library. Residents were experiencing grave challenges with obtaining library services to conduct research, complete assignments etc.

Launch of Youth Advisory Task Force

On Wednesday May 18, 2016 the St. Ann Parish Council had a soft launch for its Youth Advisory Task Force, following in the footsteps of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation ( KSAC ).

Handing Over of Wheelchairs – St. Catherine Infirmary

‘Splendid days’ are what the St. Catherine Infirmary has been seeing for the past two years to present, as extensive rehabilitative, upgrading and beautification works continues in and around the historic building at 14 Monk Street, Spanish Town.
Members of staff, residents and visitors alike, are delighted at the work being done, that has given the building and the property a well deserved facelift; thanks to the efforts of the St. Catherine Parish Council.
