Kingston to Explore Twinning Opportunities with cities in Spain

Mayor of Kingston, Senator Delroy Williams met with the newly appointed Spanish Ambassador Josep Mari Bosch Bessa, on Monday at the Kingston & St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) to congratulate him on his appointment as well as discuss projects which will involve both bodies.

The ambassador, who has been in office for just over a month, expressed his affection for the city of Kingston and spoke of the similarities between the potential that exists on the Waterfront of downtown Kingston and Barcelona, his hometown, a few decades ago.

St Ann Municipal Corporation tackles homelessness (Article from the Jamaica Observer)

A committee for the homeless in St Ann was last week revamped as part of efforts to reduce the number of street people in the parish.

This comes at a time when the St Ann Municipal Corporation has commissioned the construction of a drop-in centre to cater to the needs of homeless people.

Construction of the centre, on Stormont Road in Ocho Rios, has since begun and is expected to be completed by August of this year.

The Garden Parish of St. Ann

St. Ann was named after Ann Hyde, wife of James II, King of England and is recognized as the largest of all the parishes. It is known as ‘The Garden Parish’ for its bauxite, agriculture and livestock production and – perhaps most notably – its tourist attractions.
